Established in 1993. The creator, permanent artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra — Professor Mikhail Benyumov, Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation.
The orchestra consists only of Krasnoyarsk residents — some of the best musicians in the city. Many of them are students of Mikhail Benyumov. The creative team has the unity of the school, ensemble cohesion and its own creative style. The orchestra represented Krasnoyarsk in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Poland, China, Portugal, Belarus. Concerts were held in prestigious halls: the Palace of Music in Valencia, the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, the Palazzo Sforza in Milan, the House of Music in Moscow, the Great and Small Halls of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic named after Dmitry Shostakovich, the Small Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Great Hall of the Belarusian Philharmonic. The orchestra gave more than two thousand concerts in our country and abroad.
One of the large-scale projects of the municipal creative team is the annual International Festival of Chamber and Orchestral Music "Asia — Siberia — Europe", which has been held since 2001. The combination of classical works and premieres specially created for the festival in the programs attracts not only outstanding performers, but also famous modern composers to collaborate. In 2023, the orchestra was recognized as a particularly valuable cultural heritage site of the Krasnoyarsk region.
