Maria Benyumova

Maria began her musical education at the Gorky Pedagogical College and the Krasnoyarsk State Academy of Music and Theater. She later graduated from the Munich University of Music and Theater, specializing
in choral and orchestral conducting. At the age of 26, she became a Conductor and Director of the choir at the Krefeld and Mönchengladbach Theater, working there until 2022. Maria’s talent has been recognized through the support of the Conductors' Forum of the German Music Council, the Choir Forum of the Bavarian Radio, the Alfred Töpffer Foundation and the Liselotte Klein Foundation. In 2022/2023, Maria was a participant in the Carlos Miguel Prieto Fellowship and the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship.

Her choral conducting experience includes work with the RIAS Chamber Choir, the NDR Choir, the Bavarian Radio Choir, and the Komische Oper Berlin. As a guest conductor, she has collaborated with such ensembles
as the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the San Remo Symphony Orchestra, etc. In 2023, she was selected for the Hart Institute for Women Conductors at the Dallas Opera
and for the Britten-Pears Young Artists Program in collaboration with the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. In the 2024/2025 season, Maria made her debut with the South Westphalia Philharmonic, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, and the Northwest German Philharmonic Orchestra. She maintains close ties with the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra under the direction of M.I. Benyumov, the renowned violinist and teacher, the head of their family musical dynasty.
