About the Chairman of the Jury
Viktor Tretyakov was born on October 17, 1946 in Krasnoyarsk. At the age of 7 he entered the Irkutsk Music School in the violin class of Yefim Gordin.
Since 1954 he studied at the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory, then at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky and had postgraduate studies led by U.I. Yankelevich. In 1966 he won the first prize of the Third International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Since 1969 he has been a soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic Society.
Today Maestro continues to teach and keeps touring the world. The geography of his tours covers the UK, USA, Germany, Austria, Poland, Japan, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Belgium, Scandinavian countries and Latin America.
In the basis of the violinist's repertoire are the violin concerts of the XIX century (Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Bruch, Tchaikovsky); his interpretation of works of the XX century, primarily Shostakovich and Prokofiev are recognized as exemplary in the domestic performing practice.
To take part in his workshops young violinists from around the world have to apply several years in advance.
