The First International Viktor Tretyakov Violin Competition will be held in Krasnoyarsk
From September 23 to October 1 the large-scale competition of young violinists from all over the world will be held in Krasnoyarsk.

The competition on this scale will be held in the Krasnoyarsk region for the first time, at the birthplace of the outstanding contemporary violinist, a citizen of honour of Krasnoyarsk Viktor Tretyakov. Viktor Tretyakov performs in the best halls of the world, he is a soloist of the Moscow State Philharmonic Society. Maestro will chair the jury and hold several workshops for young musicians.
The Participants will be assessed by the outstanding violinists of modern times, most of whom are the members of the jury of the International Tchaikovsky Competition and representatives of the reputable foreign music universities: Vadim Repin (Russia - Belgium), Boris Kuschnir (Ukraine - Austria), Natalya Likhopoy(Russia-Germany), Aiman Mussakhajayeva (Kazakhstan), Vera Tsu Weiling (China), Takashi Shimizu (Japan), Kurt Sassmannshaus (USA), Qian Zhou (Singapore).

Violinists from all over the world aged 16 to 32 are welcome to apply for the Competition. In order to participate in the Competition it is necessary to submit the complete application by June 15, 2018. The Competition consists of 5 stages that are a qualifying round and four main rounds. The applicants will be chosen by submitted videos, the top 25 violinists will be invited to participate in the main rounds of the Competition that will be held in Krasnoyarsk from September 23 to October 1, 2018.

All auditions are open to the public. The finalists of the Competition will perform with the Krasnoyarsk Academic Symphony Orchestra and the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra who are the leading creative teams of the Siberian Federal District.

The prize fund of the First International Viktor Tretyakov Violin Competition: I Prize – USD 15, 000; II Prize – USD 10, 000; III Prize – USD 6, 600.

In order to participate in the Competition it is necessary to submit the complete application by June 15, 2018 to competition@krasfil.ru marked "To Executive Directorate of the Violin Competition" and pay an entrance fee of 150 USD.

The Founder of the competition is the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk region with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The Organizers are the Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic Society, International and Regional Cultural Affairs Centre, the Krasnoyarsk State Art Institute, the Krasnoyarsk City Administration, the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra.

About the Chairman of the Jury
Viktor Tretyakov was born on October 17, 1946 in Krasnoyarsk. At the age of 7 he entered the Irkutsk Music School in the violin class of Yefim Gordin.

Since 1954 he studied at the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory, then at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky and had postgraduate studies led by U.I. Yankelevich. In 1966 he won the first prize of the Third International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Since 1969 he has been a soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic Society.

Today Maestro continues to teach and keeps touring the world. The geography of his tours covers the UK, USA, Germany, Austria, Poland, Japan, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Belgium, Scandinavian countries and Latin America.

In the basis of the violinist's repertoire are the violin concerts of the XIX century (Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Bruch, Tchaikovsky); his interpretation of works of the XX century, primarily Shostakovich and Prokofiev are recognized as exemplary in the domestic performing practice.

To take part in his workshops young violinists from around the world have to apply several years in advance.
