June 15 is the deadline for submitting applications for participation in the First International Viktor Tretyakov Violin Competition that will be held in Krasnoyarsk from September 23 to October 1.

Yuri Bashmet created a special prize that is the most important for young performers - the laureates of the Competition will have the opportunity to perform accompanied by the state symphony orchestra "New Russia" and the chamber orchestra "Soloists of Moscow" in the central halls of Moscow and St. Petersburg. The winners will be invited to make a tour of Russia and Europe.

The prize fund of the First International Viktor Tretyakov Violin Competition: I Prize – $ 15, 000; II Prize – $ 10,000; III Prize – $ 6,600.

Besides the cash prizes, the laureates will have the opportunity to perform solo concerts in such prestigious halls as the Grand Hall of the Mariinsky Theater, as well as in the halls of Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy and other countries.

Violinists from all over the world aged 16 to 32 inclusive are welcome to apply for the Competition.

The competition on this scale will be held in the Krasnoyarsk region for the first time, at the birthplace of the legendary Russian violinist Viktor Tretyakov. "I am very happy and proud that the First International Competition will be held in my hometown. I am glad to have such support, especially since the first two rounds will be held at the Art Institute. I was born in a house that used to be located not far from the Institute. It is an amazing coincidence and a sign of fate," Viktor Tretyakov said.

The Maestro has established his exclusive prize - the bow made by a French master that one of the winners of the Competition will be presented with.

25 participants will compete for the title of the best one and only three will reach the final. The participants will be provided with accommodation in Krasnoyarsk and two meals per day throughout the Competition and those who will take part in the second round will get reimbursed the cost of travel to Krasnoyarsk in the fixed amount.

All the auditions will be open to the public. The concertos for violin and orchestra will be performed with the Krasnoyarsk Academic Symphony Orchestra and the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra who are the leading creative teams of the Siberian Federal District.

The Founder of the competition is the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk region with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The Organizers are the Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic Society, International and Regional Cultural Affairs Centre, the Krasnoyarsk State Art Institute, the Krasnoyarsk City Administration, the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra.
