III Competition

The prize fund of the competition was replenished with a prestigious gift

Daniil Austrian, violinist and conductor, founder of the Mindfreemusic FORTE Musical Foundation, prepared a special prize for one of the winners in III Viktor Tretyakov International Violin Competition. One of the participants in the competition will have the right for two years to play the violin of Jean-Auguste Dart, the famous French master, which was made in the second half of the 19th century in the workshop of Nicolas Vuillaume in France.
Jean-Auguste Dart (1830−1892) was born in Paris and studied violin making with Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume and his younger brother Nicolas-François Vuillaume. Later, Jean-August worked in the workshop of Nicolas, and also took over it after the death of the master. Dart preferred to work on Guarneri violin models. They are distinguished by a deep, rich and powerful sound, for which they received the name Stentor - in honor of a warrior from ancient Greek mythology who could shout down an entire army.
