Mikhail Benyumov

Founder, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra. Artistic Director of the International Festival of Chamber and Orchestral Music "Asia — Siberia — Europe".

Began studying the violin with G. Yampolsky and M. Garlitsky. Continued at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music with professors M. Blok, M. Fichtenholz and R. Dubinsky.

Mikhail Benyumov has been working at the Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Academy of Arts since its foundation in 1978. Maestro himself founded the Department of String Instruments in 1982, where he subsequently worked as its head for 28 years. Mikhail teaches and performs as a violinist and conductor.

Performed in a duet with the Honored Artist of Russia Larisa Markosyan in many cities of Russia, Italy, and Germany. Conducted highly successful workshops in Russia and France (the Paris Conservatory). Among his graduates are notable laureates of international, all-Russian and regional competitions, many of whom eventually became his colleagues at the institute department

or members of the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra. A number of compositions by contemporary Russian and foreign composers have been written and performed especially for M. Benyumov. His credo: "The most important thing is to make life and work interesting".

Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation, Professor, PhD Candidate in Art History, recipient of the State Prize of the Krasnoyarsk region. Holder of the Stradivari Medal (Cremona (Italy) for professional excellence, development and consolidation of cultural relations. Honorary citizen of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk region.
