Collector Alexander Betz announced the winner of the special prize

A rare bow made by Christian Friedrich Knopf (1808-1874), a representative of the famous dynasty, went to Daniil Kogan (Russia / Canada) who won the 1st prize at the III Viktor Tretyakov International Violin Competition (2023, Krasnoyarsk, Russia). This prize is from Alexander Betz (Germany), the educator, orchestra player, collector and owner of the company for tuning and selling musical instruments.

Alexander Betz, a connoisseur of ancient instruments, will hand it over to his favorite in person at the first opportunity.

As Betz states: “The performer who received a prize at the competition of the outstanding Russian violinist of the 20th and 21st centuries, Viktor Tretyakov, is worthy of the bow of the outstanding German master of the 19th century, Christian Friedrich Knopf.”

Bows by Christian Friedrich Knopf have excellent playing and sound qualities; they are prestigious both for concert musicians and for collectors. The master supplied his products to the most famous Russian manufacturer and seller of musical instruments, Nikolai Kittel. Knopf dynasty bows were used by great virtuosos: the Norwegian violinist and composer Ole Bull and the Austrian-Hungarian violinist and composer Joseph Joachim, as well as many modern soloists.
