Famous violinists and author of documentaries Bruno Monsaingeon presents his premier at the meet-the-artist event

Bruno Monsaingeon will present his movie The Art of Violin in Dim Kino cinema on September 25. This movie is about famous violinists, it tells that there are no standards in music, each musician is unique and wonderful in his or her own way. With the death of Yehudi Menuhin in 1999 the golden era of the greatest romantic violinists has come to an end. Eugène Ysaÿe, Jascha Heifetz, Fritz Kreisler, Henryk Szeryng, David Oistrakh, Leonid Kogan – each of these world-famous musicians have their own style of playing.

The violin sound and style of performance of musicians of XX century can be recognized.
The movie includes rare archive recordings of violin concerts of the greatest world musicians such as Itzhak Perlman, Ida Haendel, Mstislav Rostropovich, Ivry Gitlis, Hilary Hahn with commentson peculiarities of national violin school, sound productionand technique of playing a musical instrument, on interpretation of popular concerts and pieces, on attitude to the choice of instrument and many other things.

BrunoMonsaingeonisaviolinist from France, director of documentaries about great musicians of the XX century. He had a chance to interview a lot of them. The recluse Svyatoslav Richter personally handed Bruno the entries of his diaries, answered his letterafter asking him to describe his biography. During his lifetime, the pianist avoided the attention of journalists.

The screening will take place within the framework of the II Viktor Tretyakov International Violin Competition, where Bruno is a Jury member.
