On behalf of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, I welcome you to the III Viktor Tretyakov International Violin Competition, which traditionally takes place in the maestro's homeland.

This competition is one of the largest violin competitions, where young performers have a chance to express themselves and gain wide recognition. As part of the preliminary selection, musicians from 15 countries competed in musical art, and the 25 most talented were selected by the jury to participate in the main round. These are young talents from Russia, Kazakhstan, China, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Slovenia. The semi-finals of the competition will determine the 8 strongest violinists, whose performances will be watched not only by respected members of the jury, but also by the public.

I wish the participants good luck, inspiration and bright musical discoveries at this wonderful competition. Let your creativity touch the hearts of your listeners and give them unforgettable emotions!

For the third time our regional capital welcomes renowned virtuosos of the violin school and young musicians who are ready to show the full scope of their talent in this musical competition.

The event initiated by our fellow countryman, an outstanding violinist of our time, People’s Artist of the USSR Viktor Tretyakov, maintains its international status, proving there are no boundaries for true art and talent. The contestants will have the opportunity not only to express themselves, but also to learn from their venerable seniors.

I wish everyone to have faith in themselves, be courageous and stay inspired. Let the meeting of the strongest violinists be a memorable experience which will become an impetus for further professional growth and new creative heights!

I express my warmest greetings to the participants, jury and organisers of the III Viktor Tretyakov International Violin Competition!

It has become a good tradition that the most talented violinists from all over the world gather in a musical competition in the birthplace of the distinguished virtuoso of the violin school, People’s Artist of the USSR Viktor Tretyakov. All of the participants are united in their love for music and bravery in achieving their ambitions. So let this competition unveil new talents for us and become an additional impulse for further personal progress and success for each participant!

As part of the second and third rounds of the competition, the guests will be treated with a pleasant surprise: with some help from our accomplished musicians, the participants will perform works by the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, whose 150th anniversary is celebrated this year by the whole country, along with other well-known musical pieces.

I wish the respected jury impartiality, the participants to show themselves with dignity and gain maximum experience, and the pleasure of communicating with like-minded people, and to dear viewers — bright emotions and good impressions!
